Rumbo al Mundial: Where to Watch Jamaica-Mexico World Cup Qualifier

Jamaica hosts Mexico in a key qualifier to reach the 2014 World Cup in Brazil at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time Tuesday June 4, but people in Redlands and Loma Linda who want to watch the match live in a bar may find themselves squeezed out by hockey fans.

Some establishments, including the Falconer and Johnny's Tacos & Sports, are more likely to air the Los Angeles Kings-Chicago Blackhawks game scheduled at 6 p.m. June 4, as the Kings try to fight back from a 0-2 deficit in the Western Conference Finals.

"We'll have the Kings-Blackhawks for sure," Falconer manager Marina Vasquez said in a phone interview Tuesday afternoon.

A server at Johnny's said by phone the Kings-Blackhawks would be a priority, but there might be a chance to get the Jamaica-Mexico match on one of the televisions.

Pregame for Jamaica-Mexico begins at 5:30 p.m. Pacific on Telemundo 52, from National Stadium in Kingston. Telemundo is expected to air the entire match.

The Reggae Boyz, who played El Tri to a 0-0 draw in Estadio Azteca in February, are last in the final Concacaf group with 2 points from three matches so far. Mexico lie fifth in the group with 3 points.

The U.S., third in the group with 4 points, were also in Kingston on Tuesday preparing for their qualifier against Jamaica on Friday June 7.

Group play concludes in October and the top three teams qualify for Brazil 2014. The fourth-place team faces a two-match playoff against New Zealand, the Oceania group winner.

The Falconer at 106 Orange St. and Johnny's Tacos & Sports is at 1756 E. Lugonia Ave.
