A woman and a man were arrested Tuesday in Highland on suspicion of burglary and felony warrants, according to the Sheriff's Department.
Lena Coqueise Martin, 26, and Akiya Johnson, 23, were in a vehicle when they were stopped by deputies for unspecified traffic violations shortly after 2 p.m. Aug. 6, at Central Avenue and Base Line, Highland Station personnel said in a statement.
The driver, Martin, had active felony warrant for her arrest, and the passenger, Johnson, also had a warrant for his arrest and was found to be on felony probation, deputies said.
In addition, Johnson was allegedly concealing items in the crotch area of his pants, deputies said. A search revealed both Martin and Johnson were allegedly in possession of items stolen from Walmart.
Deputies said the pair stole the merchandise just before they were stopped.
Martin and Johnson were taken to West Valley Detention Center where they were booked on suspicion of burglary and the warrants, deputies said. Martin was held Wednesday on $75,000 bail. Johnson did not appear in inmate records.
