$160K Grant Will Fund Traffic Enforcement Program In Redondo Beach
The police department will use the grant to fund ongoing traffic enforcement programs and outreach.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Redondo Beach Police Department was awarded a $160,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to support ongoing traffic enforcement and education programs.
These programs help reduce the number of serious injuries or deaths on the road, according to RBPD.
"We are grateful to receive this grant, which will strengthen our traffic enforcement
efforts and improve road safety," Officer Douglas Westphal said. "By increasing enforcement of
traffic laws and focusing on high-risk areas, we aim to reduce dangerous driving behaviors, prevent crashes, and make our roads safer for everyone."

Funding will support programs such as:
- DUI checkpoints and patrol
- High-visibility distracted driving enforcement
- Enforcement operations focused on dangerous drivers
- Enforcement for speeding, failing to yield and running red lights/stop signs
- Presentations on traffic safety in the community
- Officer training and recertification
- Collaborating efforts with neighboring agencies.
