2024 Election Results In Redondo Beach: Local Measures

There are plenty of key races underway in Redondo Beach this 2024 General Election season.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Redondo Beach voters headed to the polls to vote in the 2024 General

Election and preliminary results are in for local measures and California State Assembly Member.

Redondo Beach residents also weighed in on Measure RB, Measure S, Measure FP, Measure SD and Measure BC.

Measure RB proposed an amendment to the Redondo Beach City Charter regarding "major changes in allowable land use" following a Los Angeles County Supreme Court ruling in April. As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, residents heavily favored approving the measure, with nearly 63 percent of the vote for its approval and 37 percent of the vote against its approval.

If passed, Measure S would approve a $278 million bond to improve facilities in the Redondo Beach Unified School District to protect student safety. As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, preliminary results showed approval for the measure in the lead with 66 percent of the vote in favor and 34 percent against.

If approved, Measure FP would authorize a $93 million bond to improve the Redondo Beach Police and Fire Department buildings. As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, voters were heavily in favor of passing Measure FP, with 71 percent of the vote in favor and 29 percent of the vote against.

Measure SD was a Redondo Beach Unified School District Board of Education measure that, if approved, would allow those acting as designated representatives on the Board to receive compensation, including healthcare benefits. As of 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 57 percent of voters were in favor of passing the measure and 43 percent were against it.

Measure BC sought to authorize a $30 million Beach Cities Health Care District Bond Measure to cover construction improvements on BCHD facilities. As of 3 p.m., voters in the Beach Cities were against passing Measure BC, with 53 percent of the vote in against and 47 percent of the vote in favor, according to preliminary results.

Member of the California State Assembly, 66th District

Locally, voters in Assembly District 66, which includes Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, El Segundo, Gardena, Torrance and the Palos Verdes Peninsula cities voted for two candidates. Voters chose between current Democratic Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi and Republican small business owner George Barks.

As of 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Muratsuchi led the vote by a large margin with over 58 percent of the vote, or 94,753 total votes. Barks followed behind with more than 41 percent of the vote, or 67,819 votes.
