City officials say licenses are required for any dog four months or older in Hermosa Beach.
HERMOSA BEACH, CA — City officials say they've begun issuing license renewals for dog owners in Hermosa Beach.
In Hermosa Beach, licenses are required for all dogs four months or older, city officials said in a statement.
These licenses must be renewed each year, city officials said. The purpose of the licenses is to prove ownership, rabies vaccinations and to help reunite owners with their pets in case they get lost.

The costs of a license can vary, ranging from $27 for sterile dogs to $112 for those that haven't been spayed or neutered. Residents 60 and older, however, are eligible for a reduced rate of $13 for sterilized pets and $56 for unneutered or unspayed dogs, according to Hermosa Beach officials.
Although service dogs may be registered for free with proof of certification, owners of emotional support dogs will have to pay the normal rate, city officials said.
