Athens Services to Take Over Trash Pickup
Athens Services' new contract starts July 1.

New waste hauler Athens Services is set to start collecting garbage from Redondo Beach residents come July 1.
According to the city, the price for a single-family home's waste collection will decrease slightly from $14.38 to $14.04 per month. The rates for multi-family and commercial accounts will decrease by about $20.
Athens Services will also provide food waste collection from restaurants and an annual "Shred Day," and its large item collection program will include electronic waste.

Additionally, customers will receive new trash containers as part of the contract.
Redondo Beach will host three community meetings where residents can get more information before the new service starts. Representatives from the city and Athens Services will be there. The three meetings are scheduled for May:

The current contract with Consolidated Disposal Services ends June 30.
The City Council Jan. 4 after reviewing five different proposals.
