'Beware' Message On Car Prompts Police Response In Redondo Beach

A concerning message written on a car prompted a police response in Redondo Beach this week.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A person was taken in for a mental health evaluation after police found a concerning message written on their vehicle.

Officers responded to the area of Inglewood Avenue and Vanderbilt Lane Wednesday morning following reports of a suspicious vehicle parked in the area, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.

The car had the word "beware" written on the side of it in red letters, police said.

The vehicle's occupant told police that the message was part of a Halloween display.

"Based on their investigation and interview, the occupant was determined to have met the criteria for a mental health evaluation and was subsequently transported by mental health evaluation team to the appropriate facility for treatment," reads a RDPD statement.
