TORRANCE, CA — The decision by the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors to build a new homeless housing facility in Torrance, despite the South Bay city's councilmembers voting against it, has sparked some outrage amongst community members, according to a report by Fox News.

The Torrance City Council had voted in May against the plan to create a new permanent homeless housing facility at the Extended Stay America hotel located along Torrance Boulevard near Madrona Avenue, but the LA County Board of Supervisors overruled the decision a week later, voting unanimously to approve the plan anyway, according to the report.

Although Supervisor Janice Hahn believes the location for the new facility would be beneficial to help people experiencing homelessness get jobs and other rehabilitation opportunities, some community members think the county officials are overstepping, according to the report.
