Gunman Sought in Car-to-Car Shooting

Police are looking for the person who shot at another car while racing down Hill Lane shortly after midnight Saturday.

Officers are searching for a gunman involved in a car-to-car shooting that occurred shortly after midnight Saturday in the 2400 block of Hill Lane, according to Redondo Beach police Sgt. Fabian Saucedo.

"Witnesses reported three vehicles driving eastbound on Hill Lane toward Lilienthal [Lane] at a high rate of speed," Saucedo said. "A passenger in one of the vehicles was shooting toward a second vehicle that was directly in front of them."

According to Redondo Beach resident Stu Mark, who lives on the street, the three cars turned north on Lilienthal Lane, disregarding the street's one-way sign.

"One of these vehicles brushed hard up against a tree in the cement median [on Lilienthal Lane], leaving the tree standing, but battered," Mark wrote in a comment.

One car was a dark-colored compact—possibly a Toyota—that may have damage to the front right fender and tire, witnesses told police. The second car was a dark sedan that may have been a Honda Accord.

The third car was described as a light sedan—possibly a Ford Mustang—with damage to the rear bumper, police said.

Nobody was injured, Saucedo said. Earlier reports that a car parked on the street was damaged were incorrect.

An SUV parked in someone's driveway had its rear windshield shot out, Mark said. Officers found .30 Carbine shell casings and a live round on the street during their investigation.

Anyone with information on the shooting or any of the cars involved should contact the at 310-379-2477.
