The Fine Arts Festival features several types of art, including pottery, glasswork and paintings.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — The Hermosa Beach Fine Arts Festival returns this weekend, featuring dozens of artists and a student art exhibition.

The two-day festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the lawn of the community center near the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Pier Avenue, according to event organizers.

Aside from presenting the works of dozens of artists across several mediums, such as paintings, glasswork and pottery, there will also be art activities for kids, face painting and the opportunity to support local businesses.

The event, put on by the Hermosa Arts Group, was founded in 2002 by local artist Ken Klade to promote arts education and appreciation, according to the fine arts festival organizers. Back then, it was known as the Hermosa Beach Art Walk.

"Ken’s goal was to bring a high-quality art festival to the area, which also advanced art education in the community," according to the fine arts festival website.

The event was then rebranded to the Hermosa Beach Fine Arts Festival in 2015. Each year, the event organizers select a featured artist to showcase their work.

This year, Meredith Dubois, a South Bay "favorite," was selected as the featured artist.

Her paintings celebrate "the beachy life we enjoy in our little sliver of paradise," the event organizers said.
