International Surf Festival Ready To Make A Splash In The South Bay
The festival includes a lifeguard medley relay, a pier-to-pier swim, a volleyball tournament and a surfing contest.
TORRANCE, CA — The 62nd Annual International Surf Festival returns next week with a series of competitions that are meant to promote the South Bay's four beach cities.
Lifeguards and other participants from eight years old to those in their late 80s will take part in the event, which has three signature events: the Judge Taplin Lifeguard Medley Relay, the Dwight Crum Pier-to-Pier Swim, and the Charlie Saikley 6-Man Volleyball Tournament.

The festival will be hosted by Torrance this year. It'll kick off with a dinner on Wednesday, July 30, followed by the volleyball tournament on Friday, Aug. 1. For the full schedule, click here.
The International Surf Festival is a nonprofit organization. The event was put on for the first time in 1962, when each South Bay beach city had its own festival that often competed with one another, according to the nonprofit.
