HERMOSA BEACH, CA — A new art exhibit is premiering in Hermosa Beach this weekend, highlighting the human emotion and expression that comes with discovering something new.
There will be an Art Reception on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Gallery of Hermosa for the new "Discovery" exhibit.
The month-long exhibit features dozens of art pieces that are meant to show how the "journey of discovery is as boundless as creativity itself," according to the Gallery of Hermosa website.

"Whether it’s uncovering new perspectives, revealing hidden truths, or pushing artistic boundaries, discovery fuels innovation and inspires change," according to gallery officials. "This exhibit encapsulates the thrill, curiosity, and revelation that come with the process of finding something new."
Pieces such as "Light 001" by Kevin Perrault show what appears to be a crowd gathering around a single light source.

"Kaleidoscope" by Bill Meek is a sculpted art piece made of glass and ultraviolet adhesive.
"Witnessing monarch butterflies on their path from Canada to Mexico in the spring inspired me to create this work," Meek told the gallery. "Experiencing the sight of thousands of butterflies above wildflowers blanketing the earth is one of the most beautiful discoveries of my life."
The piece captures a shared moment of wonder, curiosity, uncertainty and discovery, according to the gallery website.
The art reception is free and located at 138 Pier Ave. in Hermosa Beach.
The "Discovery" Exhibit will be open from June 7 to July 6. The Gallery of Hermosa is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are necessary if visiting Monday through Wednesday.
