Maureen B. O’Donnell Trust Donates $25,000 to Love On 4 Paws

Generous gift will support animal-assisted therapy for hospital patients and people in need

TORRANCE, Calif. (March 10, 2025) - In a surprise move, Trustees of the Maureen B.O’Donnell Trust presented to the nonprofit organization Love On 4 Paws a much larger check than anticipated at a check presentation ceremony held in memory of Ms.O’Donnell on Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m. The event took place in the community room of the Providence Little Company of Mary Transitional Care Center at 4320 Maricopa Street.

In what was originally designated to be a $15,000 donation, the O’Donnell Trust
brought to the event a cleverly wrapped oversized check decorated with pictures of
therapy dogs and hearts. During the unveiling, the unwrapped package revealed a
$25,000 donation, $10,000 more than anticipated, to the surprise and delight of all
participants.

Suni Cookson, director of Love On 4 Paws, graciously accepted the donation from
Dr. Dean H. Cummings, D.C., contracted provider of Providence Affiliated Physicians
and Co-Successor Trustee of the Maureen B. O’Donnell Trust. He was accompanied by his wife, Lorraine Cummings, and Ms. O’Donnell’s Goddaughter, Laura Radley. Host of the event was

In addition to spotlighting one of Providence’s facilities, the ceremony featured
numerous Love On 4 Paws volunteers and their therapy dogs, showcasing the
organization’s compassionate work in brightening the lives of patients through the
unconditional love, comfort and healing power of therapy animals. It ended with multiple
therapy dog visits to patient rooms.

“On behalf of our team at Love On 4 Paws, we are deeply grateful for this generous
donation in memory of an incredible woman whose passion for public service matched
our own,” said Ms. Cookson. “It is heartwarming to see such support for our mission,
