Oh, No! Gas Prices on the Rise Again

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County is $3.806.

Gas prices are on the rise again, City News Service reported. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose for the seventh consecutive day Friday to $3.806.

The average price is 2.7 cents more than it was last week and 69.3 cents more than it was at this time last year; however, it's still 14.4 cents less than it was last month, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

According to City News Service, this is the first time the average price has increased for seven days in a row since a 10-day streak of increases from April 27 to May 6. Before the increases began last week, the average price had dropped for 62 of 63 days.

"Last week's higher oil and wholesale gasoline prices related to the weaker dollar had a quick impact at the pump for local drivers," said Automobile Club of Southern California spokesman Jeffrey Spring. "Oil is now trading lower than $100 a barrel again, so it remains to be seen whether prices will continue to rise."

Crude oil prices account for up to three-quarters of the price of a gallon of gasoline at the pump, Spring said.
