Pet of the Week: Katie

Katie is a 2-year-old, 45-pound pit bull/terrier mix who needs to find a new, loving home. Even though she'll eat four cups of food per day, she exercises it off. She loves running on the trails, but she's more than happy to chase balls and play with others.

Though she enjoys cuddling and sleeping under the covers, Katie is crate-trained and will happily "go to bed" if asked. She's been to obedience school; she knows basic commands; and she generally follows directions.

Even though she gets along well with other dogs in neutral territory, Katie is an alpha female, so she needs an active owner who doesn't have any other dogs. The owner should be a strong leader.

Katie is up-to-date on all her shots; she received her most recent booster vaccinations Aug. 16 from Country Hills Animal Clinic.
