Police Blotter: Mom Catches Minor Son on Craigslist Date
Burglaries, car thefts, missing persons and more--it's all in a week's work for the Redondo Beach Police Department.

April 5 was a busy day for the Redondo Beach Police Department--officers arrested a man and a boy on burglary and auto theft charges, respectively, and found a missing woman with dementia. At the end of the week, one mother caught her 15-year-old son making a date through Craigslist.
Victim Chases Down Burglary Suspect
A victim caught a burglary suspect red-handed after he spotted someone rummaging through his unlocked car shortly after midnight April 5, according to a news release from the Redondo Beach Police Department.

The car's owner chased the man and caught him, but while the victim was recovering his property, the man took off, police said.
Officers arrested the burglary suspect on a charge of possession of stolen property, police said.

Later that morning, an officer using an automated license plate reader found a car that had been reported stolen in Hawthorne, police said. Investigators watched the car, and they saw a boy get into it and drive away.
According to the news release, officers stopped the car and arrested the suspect, who is a juvenile. He had previously been arrested on vehicle theft charges.
Woman with Dementia Wanders 10 Blocks
An 87-year-old woman with dementia wandered away after 9:30 p.m. on April 5, police said. Her daughter reported the elderly woman missing.
After an exhaustive search, officers responded to reports of a woman screaming for help about 10 blocks away, police said. It was the missing woman.
Officers said paramedics treated her, and she was released into the custody of her daughter.
Mom Catches Minor Son with Craigslist Date
The mother of a 15-year-old boy discovered her son was going to meet with a 40-year-old man he met on Craigslist, police said. On Sunday, she followed her son to the meet-up and watched him get into the car with an older man.
She called police, and officers arrested the older man.
The boy was taken to an area hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
