PALOS VERDES, CA — A USPS worker was robbed at gunpoint outside a Palos Verdes post office Thursday afternoon and two suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, according to police.

Police say the worker was gathering mail around 5 p.m. outside the Malaga Cove post office when a man pulled out a gun and demanded his keys and work phone, the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department announced on Facebook last week.

The worker complied and the suspect drove away with the items, police said.

Officers later located the suspect vehicle in Redondo Beach and began conducting surveillance, according to Palos Verdes police.

After about two hours, a woman got into the suspect vehicle and drove away, while the man matching the robber's description followed in another car, police said.

The officers pulled both cars over and took both people into custody, according to police. However, the suspects did not have the gun police say was used during the robbery or any of the postal worker's belongings.

Their identities were not released by police and it's unclear what charges, if any, they may face.

"Detectives will continue to relentlessly investigate," PVEPD said in a statement Friday.
