Praying Street Vendor Goes Viral In the South Bay: Report

A fruit vendor's moment of faith before starting his workday went viral on TikTok, helping him in his goal to provide for his family.

GARDENA, CA — People online were inspired after a video of a South Bay fruit vendor kneeling to pray before starting a long day of work went viral on TikTok.

The video of Luis Angel Morales was posted earlier this week and has since been viewed more than 1.5 million times. The TikTok user said he stopped to buy fruit at Morales' stand at the corner of Orchard Avenue and Redondo Beach Boulevard.

In an interview with NBCLA, Morales said he arrived in the U.S. from Puebla, Mexico about two months ago. He works 13-hour shifts, 7 days a week to provide for his wife and two children back home.

After the video took off, Morales said business has picked up, helping achieve his goal of being able to provide for his family. Moralez sells mangoes, watermelon, pineapple and other fresh fruits near the intersection in Gardena.
