Chamber of Commerce Endorses Gin for Congress
Mayor Mike Gin aims to represent the 36th Congressional District, taking Jane Harman's former seat.

The Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Mayor Mike Gin in his congressional bid, the Chamber announced in a news release sent Monday.
Gin is running to represent the 36th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. Former Rep. Jane Harman resigned to lead the Washington D.C.-based Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
According to Chamber CEO and President Marna Smeltzer, "Gin's experience in the private sector coupled with his community leadership role has made him one of our most important assets as we work to make the South Bay more business friendly."
In its news release, the Chamber noted that under Gin's leadership, the Chamber and the L.A. Air Force Base Regional Alliance fought against proposals to downsize or eliminate the Los Angeles Air Force Base. Additionally, Gin has led the Green Task Force, Water Quality Task Force and a Citizen Growth Management and Traffic Committee.
Gin joins Redondo Beach City Attorney Mike Webb and 14 other candidates on the ballot.
