Redondo Beach Police Captain Given Key to City as Retirement Present

Capt. Tom Krafick​ has served the Redondo Beach Police Department for 28 years.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Retiring Redondo Beach police Capt. Tom Krafick was given the Key to City at the Tuesday night's City Council meeting for his 28 years of service, according to the Easy Reader News

Krafick was presented the key by Mayor Steve Aspel.

“I don’t feel like I should be going home as the old guy, but the city is in great hands now,” Krafick told the Easy Reader News.

Krafick began his police career in Newtown, CT, but was lured to Southern California after a summer vacation in Redondo Beach, according to the Easy Reader News. He applied to the Redondo Beach Police Department and hasn't looked back since.

He was hired in 1988, first working working patrol, then in gang enforcement, DARE and SWAT. Krafick was promoted to sergeant in 1998 and was made lieutenant five years later. He was promoted to Captain in 2007.
