Redondo Beach Unified Considers Installing AC In All Classrooms

The move came as parents and students are increasingly complaining about hot classrooms in the summer.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Redondo Beach Unified School Board members are considering whether to install air conditioning in all the classrooms in the district at their Tuesday meeting.

The cost of installing the air conditioning units district-wide was estimated at $6.5 million. Board members have said they did not want to use the district's general fund for this purpose. They plan to finance the project through bond measure reimbursements.

The district is anticipating $2.38 million from Measure C from the state and $10.49 million in additional bond money, according to a staff report.
