Redondo Beach Welcomes Sprouts

More than 100 people lined up early Wednesday morning, eager to be one of the first customers of when it opened its doors at 7 a.m.

"The store and registers were packed by 7:30 a.m.," Sprouts public relations representative Kim Rockley said.

Opening-day customers each received a free reusable grocery bag with their first purchase, and the first 500 customers to make a purchase received a coupon booklet for 10 free sandwiches.

The Redondo Beach location on 1515 Hawthorne Blvd. is the 100th store in the U.S., according to a news release from the company. It's the 56th store in California.

Sprouts joins as a tenant in the new South Bay Market Place on Hawthorne Boulevard south of the South Bay Galleria.
