Shark Week Drinks Are Back At This Australian-Themed Restaurant Chain

TORRANCE, CA — Shark week is almost here, and with it, two new "jaws-dropping" limited-time drinks at the Australian-themed Outback Steakhouse.

The Aussie JAWSsie, a drink crafted with raspberry vodka, blue curacao, grenadine and citrus juices, has been served in the past. But the new Sharkey Temple, a play on the Shirley Temple, is an alcohol-free drink and will be available at Outback Steakhouse starting Wednesday.

Each drink is served with a toy shark that pours grenadine from its mouth, according to the restaurant, which said customers get to keep the memento.

Select Outback Steakhouse locations will also host Aussie JAWSsie Takeovers, a shark-themed event from July 14 to 17 and July 21 to 24, where customers can enjoy the Aussie JAWSsie for $8.99, $8 classic cocktails all day and 50% off "Aussie-tizers."

Shark Week is a highly anticipated programming event held each year by the Discovery Channel. It started in 1988 with the airing of "Caged in Fear," where motorized cages meant to resist shark attacks were tested out.

This year, the longest-running cable TV programming event in history kicks off on Sunday, July 20.
