Shooting Shuts Down 405 Freeway For Hours
All northbound lanes of the San Diego (405) Freeway remained shut Thursday afternoon in the South Bay.
LOS ANGELES, CA — A freeway shooting shut down all lanes of the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway near Crenshaw Boulevard Thursday morning into the afternoon.
As of 1:10 p.m., the freeway remained closed, said California Highway Patrol Officer Moises Marroquin. One person was shot on the Crenshaw Boulevard offramp. Authorities have not arrested a suspect, and the investigation remains ongoing.
As a result, the northbound 405 Freeway was completely closed from Western Avenue to Crenshaw Boulevard while the investigation continued. The closure backed up traffic on the freeway for miles and clogged surrounding side streets. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. By 2 p.m., all but the far right lane of the freeway had been reopened, Caltrans announced.
