Skechers Opens A Food Court In The South Bay

GARDENA, CA — Visit the Skechers shoe store in Gardena and you’ll find the usual offerings — boots, sneakers and sandals. But you can also get lunch on the go.

The shoe brand recently launched the Skechers Food Spot, which opened in May and was described by the Los Angeles Times as an outdoor food court with affordable offerings such as burgers, pizza and chicken sandwiches. Multiple local media outlets have compared the Food Spot to the food court at Costco.

“Creating the Food Spot at the Skechers Gardena store took everyone by surprise, but it was one of those good surprises,” President Michael Greenberg said in a prepared statement.

“Good because we’re making our customers even happier. They’re coming to Skechers for the best quality and most comfortable shoes at an affordable price. And now they’re taking care of their shopping and they’re eating high quality comfort food at a really reasonable price.”

The Food Spot has been good for business. Greenberg told the Times the eatery is “over-the-top busy,” sometimes with 2,500 orders per day.
