South Bay Theft: Nearly $9K Of Ulta Beauty, Other Products Stolen

Two people are suspected of stealing thousands from a Torrance retailer and Ulta Beauty at the South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A man and woman are suspected of stealing about $6,700 in stolen beauty products from Ulta Beauty at the South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach, and about $1,800 from a Torrance retailer over the weekend, authorities said.

Officers responded to the reported theft at Ulta Beauty in the 1500 block of Hawthorne Boulevard at about 2:07 p.m. Sunday, Redondo Beach Lt. Fabian Saucedo said.

A man and woman reportedly walked inside the business then grabbed a large amount of merchandise, placing the items in trash bags they brought with them, Saucedo said. The suspects then fled in a vehicle waiting outside the store.

Redondo Beach police officers followed the vehicle to the area of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street in Los Angeles and arrested the suspects with Los Angeles police officers assisting, Saucedo said.

Officers found about $6,700 in products from Ulta Beauty in trash bags, he said. The suspects were also in possession of $1,800 in merchandise which was stolen earlier that day from a Torrance business.

Deon Donnell Paige, 18, and Jamonnie Leeshawn Murphy, 18, both from Los Angeles, were booked on suspicion of theft and have since bonded out.

The case is under consideration for felony filing charges with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Saucedo said.

"These subjects are believed to be responsible for similar prior thefts from retail businesses in
Redondo Beach," Saucedo said.
