Suspect In Series Of South Bay Burglaries Arrested: Police

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A man suspected of burglarizing several homes in the South Bay has been arrested, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Victor Enrique Cerritos, 41, is accused of burglarizing homes in Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach recently, according to police. The exact period in which the crimes took place, nor how many homes Cerritos is suspected of breaking into, was not immediately clear.

Cerritos was located and detained by officers in a Redondo Beach neighborhood on Tuesday, around 4:30 a.m. At the time, he had a vehicle that matched the description of one used in the burglaries, according to authorities.

Detectives with the Redondo Beach Police Department later obtained a search warrant for Cerritos' car. Inside, police say the detectives found several items that were taken during the burglaries.

"The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to return the recovered property to
the rightful owners and identify any additional victims," Redondo Beach officials said in a statement Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Cerritos is currently in custody pending the presentation of the cases to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office."

Cerritos' arrest comes amid an uptick in home burglaries in another South Bay city.

Torrance police say they've seen an uptick in home burglaries recently that they believe are tied to an organized crime group. It's unclear whether Cerritos has any ties to this group.
