Man Arrested For Vandalizing 14 Businesses In San Mateo County: Police
Business owners reported damage to their windows that showed the suspect leaving the same marking at each location, police said.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — A total of 14 businesses in Redwood City reported having their windows vandalized with the perpetrator consistently leaving the same carving, police said.
Between July 12 and 13, Redwood City Police officers said they responded to multiple reports of vandalism at businesses in the downtown area.
Owners reported damage to their windows and several provided footage showing a suspect carving the letter "R" into the glass.

At around 12:05 p.m. on Thursday, officers said they were flagged down by one of the business owners who pointed out the suspect in the downtown area.
Police said they contacted the suspect and later identified him as Roman Leoncontreras.

Footage collected from the businesses linked Leoncontreras to the vandalism, police said.
He was arrested at the scene and in addition to the vandalism charges officers said they learned he had an outstanding warrant. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
"The Redwood City Police Department thanks the business community for promptly reporting the incidents and providing valuable video evidence that led to the suspect’s swift identification and arrest," police said.
