$143K Seized In Peninsula Drug Bust

SAN MATEO, CA — A traffic stop Sunday night led to a drug bust in which more than $143,000 was seized, San Mateo police said.
The 20-year-old suspect, who isn’t old enough to legally possess THC products, was cited for possessing THC cartridges and released, according to police.

Officers initiated an investigation after noticing THC cartridges in plain view during the traffic stop, police said.
The suspect admitted to selling the cartridges for the last couple of years and consented to a search of his room, where additional cartridges and $143,406.00 in cash were found, police said.

An on-call District Attorney authorized the seizure of the money.
The suspect was found to be in possession of 834 cartridges.
