2 New Alfresco Eateries For Summer Eats On The Peninsula

The summer solstice is near, and the Bay Area has a few more choices for outdoor dining as the days get warmer and longer.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — With summery days already on deck and plenty of sunshine ahead for the Bay Area in the coming weeks and months, several new arrivals on the dining scene are tailor-made for dining outdoors.

This week, the East Bay Times highlighted nine of the region's newest alfresco destinations, including two Peninsula restaurants with bountiful patio space.

In Redwood City, the newspaper celebrated Hurrica at Westpoint Harbor. Inside diners can marvel at a floor-to-ceiling jellyfish aquarium and watch the chefs prepare their meals in the kitchen over a live hearth. Outside, Hurrica offers tables with harbor views and heaters for when a chill comes in off the water.

As for the menu, the paper recommended Kombu-Wrapped Lobster, Grilled Tombo Tuna Sandwich and Hurrica Burger.

In San Carlos, the East Bay Times shouted out the mainstay Izzy's on the Peninsula steakhouse, which recently added a full patio and outdoor bar. After completing an extensive renovation inside and out, the new patio is walled by hedges and has seating for up to 50 diners. Menu recommendations include Izzy's drunken prawns, mussels with nduja and the classic steak and chops.
