2 Bay Area Residents Die In Multi-Vehicle Crash: Police
A 27-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man were killed when they were hit by a car for a second time on the highway, police said.
SANTA CLARA, CA — A 27-year-old San Jose woman and a 44-year-old Menlo Park man died early Sunday morning in a crash involving three cars on Highway 101 in Santa Clara, according to California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers said they received a call about a crash that had occurred around 1 a.m. northbound on Highway 101, just north of Great American Parkway.
CHP said that a preliminary investigation found that the driver and passenger of a 2023 Hyundai Elantra were traveling north on the highway when they were hit by an unknown vehicle, causing the Hyundai to hit the mediator and overturn.

Police said the unknown vehicle drove away from the scene.
Officers said the two occupants of the overturned car got out of the vehicle, but a 2016 Hyundai Accent crashed into the overturned car and its occupants, killing them both.

Police said the driver of the Hyundai Accent remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.
