REDWOOD CITY, CA — The Pacifica man deputies brought into custody this week on suspicion of murder late Tuesday after a second deadly stabbing off Skyline Boulevard is now being tied to the first homicide 25 hours before, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department reported late Thursday night.

The 26-year-old man identified as Malik Dosouqi is being accused of murder, use of a deadly weapon and inflicting great bodily harm.

The first victim was identified as Abdulmalek Nasher, 32, of Pacifica, a taxi cab driver called to the scene. The second man was 31-year old John Sione Pekipaki, a tow truck driver who was also responding to the place where the crime took place.

The first deadly incident was discovered around 11:09 p.m. Monday by a deputy who found a man who had been fatally stabbed in a dirt area west of Skyline Boulevard and just north of Reids Roost Road, according to the San Mateo County sheriff's office.

After deputies returned to the scene late Tuesday night following the day's canvassing by two SWAT teams, tracking dogs, aircraft and a helicopter in hopes of finding a suspect where Nasher was found— they heard a man calling for help about 50 yards away at around 11:55 p.m., sheriff's deputies reported. He had been stabbed and died at the scene.

"Simultaneously, near the scene in this remote area, deputies saw a man fleeing the area in a vehicle who they believed to be the suspect," the sheriff's office said in a news release. " A deputy fired at the oncoming vehicle, which was driving towards the victim and both deputies."

The suspect wasn't struck but did drive off the roadway into a ditch, according to sheriff's officials. The suspect was taken into custody and is receiving medical care for a cut to his arm.
"Both homicides happened within close proximity of each other, and both victims died from multiple stab wounds," the sheriff's office said. "Investigators are actively looking into a connection between the two homicides."

Skyline Boulevard, aka State Route 35, was closed in both directions from Swett to Reids Roost roads Wednesday morning as detectives processed the crime scenes located close to the El Corte de Madera Open Space Preserve.

It had been closed from just south of Skeggs Point to north Reid's Roost Road in relation to the first homicide. It has since reopened Wednesday afternoon, the county reported.

A shelter in place was ordered by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department, which is asking residents in the area to report any suspicious activity that may have occurred in the middle of the night such as suspicious people lingering in the neighborhood.

The sheriff's office advises residents that if anyone unknown knocks on the door and isn't law enforcement to call 911 immediately.

Anyone with information about the slayings or anything suspicious is asked to call the sheriff's office at 650-599-1536.
