63 Citations Issued For People Driving Unsafely Around Pedestrians In San Mateo County
The police department conducted an operation aimed at enforcing pedestrian safety.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police cited drivers who were making crosswalks more unsafe for people crossing the street Tuesday in Redwood City.
“There’s a lot happening on our roads, and drivers need to pay attention,” said Kristina Bell, Redwood City Police Department chief of police. “Drivers need to be aware of people who are walking and crossing the roadway. Please slow down and let’s remember that safety is a shared responsibility.”
On Tuesday, officers issued 63 citations to drivers failing to yield for people walking across crosswalks or passing cars stopped for pedestrians in crosswalks.

The RCPD conducted this safety operation from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of El Camino Real and Finger Street in Redwood City.
