Accused Wedding Dress Bandit Arrested In Redwood City

Police credited multiple tipsters with helping detectives identify a suspect caught on camera taking a package from a Redwood City porch.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A man accused of stealing a package containing a $2,000 wedding dress off a Redwood City porch was arrested after police received multiple tips pointing to his identity, officials said Wednesday.

Authorities shared home surveillance video of the theft earlier this month, asking anyone who recognized the man to give detectives a call. The police department shared a development in the case on its Facebook page Wednesday, crediting multiple tips that helped lead to a suspect and recover the dress.

"The dress was located by a concerned citizen and has been returned to its rightful owner," the department wrote. "We appreciate everyone's help in solving the crime."

Police identified the suspect as Henry Fonseca, 65, of Redwood City. He was booked into the San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of grand theft.
