Attempted Kidnapping Ends With Arrest In Redwood City: Police
Police allege a man in his 20s attempted to pull a boy out of a classroom before a teacher physically intervened.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — A man was subdued and arrested Thursday after police allege he tried to pull a student out of a classroom at Sequoia High School.
According to Redwood City police, staffers reported a suspicious man at the high school around 2 p.m. Investigators said he entered a classroom and grabbed a boy, attempting to pull him from the room, when a teacher physically intervened. The man fled the classroom and told staffers he had a gun, police said.
Officers searched the campus and saw the man leaving the building on the west side of campus. Police said the man resisted arrest, and officers deployed a "less-lethal" device to subdue him. The victim was evaluated for minor injuries at the hospital, and police said he had punched a hole in the wall of a school bathroom before he was taken into custody.
