Would-be burglars were interrupted by a homeowner Thursday in unincorporated Redwood City, a San Mateo County sheriff's deputy said.
A man and a woman and a third suspect in a getaway car attempted to break into a home in the 1300 block of Stockbridge Avenue around 11 a.m., sheriff's Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt said.
The woman rang the doorbell and when no one answered the man removed the screen from a front bedroom window, Rosenblatt said. That's when the homeowner confronted the pair, who then ran into a car with a waiting driver, according to Rosenblatt. The three drove east on Stockbridge Avenue toward Alameda de las Pulgas.
No one was injured in the attempted burglary and no weapons were seen in the incident, Rosenblatt said. The car was described as a blue or gray older sedan from the 1980s or 90s that was rusting with possibly tinted windows.
