COVID-19 Surge Closes City Hall In Redwood City For Two Weeks

The closure will run until Jan. 17, and the city will "focus on virtual services to the greatest extent possible."

REDWOOD CITY, CA — City Hall in Redwood City is closed for the next two weeks because of the current surge in COVID-19 cases.

The closure will run until Jan. 17, through the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. The city will “focus on virtual services to the greatest extent possible,” according to an announcement last week.

As of last week, cases in San Mateo County increased by over 350 percent in two weeks, according to Redwood City.

The indoor gym run by the city’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services will also be closed for the next two weeks, though classes and programs will continue.

Libraries, however, will continue to be open for in-person use at 25 percent capacity.
