SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — In-person visits at San Mateo County Correctional Facilities were canceled until further notice because of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.

The sheriff’s office also announced other health and safety measures that include requiring staff to wear N95 or KN95 masks inside correctional facilities.

In-person programs, meetings and large gatherings were also canceled until further notice, and newly-incarcerated people will be quarantined, per guidelines from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.

Correctional staff will also be tested once a week. In-person attorney visits and court-ordered visits will still be allowed.
