Crash Turns Deadly When Driver Leaves Car On SR-85 In Mtn. View
CHP reported the man crashed and left his vehicle north of Fremont then crossed the southbound divider on foot when he died on the bank.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- A man died Christmas evening when for some unknown reason he left his vehicle on foot after it crashed on northbound State Route 85 north of Fremont Avenue, the California Highway Patrol, Redwood City reported.
The man, whose identity is undisclosed, abandoned the silver Toyota Rav 4 when it crashed on the northbound side. The man proceeded to extricate himself, climbed over the highway divider and died on the embankment of the southbound side, CHP Officer David Morey told Patch.
Family members "somehow found out about" the crash called in at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and went out searching for the man Wednesday morning, Morey added. The authorities responded to the scene of the single-vehicle crash, had the car towed but couldn't locate a driver until the family found him the next morning.

CHP is investigating the incident.
"We're gonna respond and assist any way we can. It's a better idea to stay with the vehicle," Morey warned motorists when they're involved in a collision.
