"Cuddle Club is a proven way to brighten lives on both ends of the leash. For older adults, spending time with dogs can reduce stress, spark conversation and foster connection," David Cumpton, a spokesperson for Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, told Patch. "For the dogs, many of whom are looking for their forever families, the experience provides comfort, attention, and a better chance at adoption."
The adoption process for seniors is similar to the normal adoption process but for those 62 years of age or older, they waive the $250 adoption fee. They also provide a welcome kit that includes the dog’s harness and collar, a leash, dog bowls, a starter supply of food and medication, a doggy bed, and, if needed, home modifications such as a doggy gate and stairs, according to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.
