Double Murder Defendant Headed To Prelim Next Week: SMC D.A.

The Pacifica defendant pleaded innocent Monday amid growing mystery of motivation of the two stabbing deaths off Skyline Blvd. last month.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — The Pacifica man accused of killing two men who drive a taxi and tow truck pleaded innocent in San Mateo County court and expressed desire to represent himself, the District Attorney's Office confirmed Tuesday.

The 26-year-old defendant identified as Malik Dosouqi faces murder charges in connection with the stabbing deaths of cab driver Abdulmalek Nasher, 32, of Pacifica and 31-year-old tow truck driver John Sione Pekipaki off Skyline Boulevard about 25 hours apart, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department.

The preliminary hearing in the Redwood City courtroom is set for July 18.

Deputies brought Dosouqi into custody last month after tried to ram law enforcement teams just north of Reids Roost while they were responding to the scene of the first suspected homicide, found another victim and saw Dosouqi fleeing. The suspect crashed his vehicle when deputies fired at him.

The motivation for the suspected killings remains a mystery to the public at least.

"It's so early in our case. We haven't gotten into the motivation. But it is interesting that both (victims) were involved in public transportation — those who can be summoned or called and they come," San Mateo County Assistant District Attorney Sean Gallagher told Patch, referring to the case as "gruesome."
