Eshoo, Speier Endorse Diane Howard for RWC Council

The former mayor is seeking re-election this November.

According to a release sent out by the Diane Howard campaign, U.S. Representatives Anna Eshoo and Jackie Speier have announced their support for Howard, a candidate for Redwood City Council. Howard, a nurse and community leader, previously served as mayor and councilmember of Redwood City.

"Diane has more than demonstrated that she cares about this community through her work on behalf of children and seniors, for recreation and business. I have every confidence that she will be an asset on the city council and I am pleased to give her my full support," said Congresswoman Anna Eshoo in the written statement.

Eshoo and Speier join other local elected officials in endorsing Howard. They include State Assemblymembers Rich Gordon and Kevin Mullen and retired State Senator Joe Simitian, now a Santa Clara County Supervisor.

“Having worked with Diane Howard on key issues facing Redwood City and our region, I know that she has the leadership skills that are needed at this time on the City Council.  She is balanced and fair in her approach to decision making,” said Assemblymember Rich Gordon in a written statement.

The candidate will be hosting several events to meet members of the community. The first will be an open house on Sept. 18 fro 8:30-10:30 a.m. in the Sunset Room of the Veterans Senior Center, 1455 Madison St. Refreshments will be served and blood pressure screenings will be available for seniors during the open house.

The second will be on Sept. 21, when the candidate will take part in the annual Coastal Clean-up Day efforts in Redwood City.  Volunteers are asked to report to the Public Works Dept., 1400 Broadway at 8:30 am for a morning of cleanup, followed by lunch.
