Ex-Redwood City Toyota Manager To Serve Jail Time For Embezzlement

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City man was sentenced to six months in jail on Wednesday for embezzling $42,500 from a Toyota dealership where he was a finance manager, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.

Marwan George Mouasher, 37, manipulated sales contracts and took cash down payments from customers but didn’t enter them into the dealership’s records on four different car sales, according to prosecutors.

Mouasher, who worked at the dealership for less than a month in the fall of 2018, abruptly quit in an email in which he claimed other managers had mishandled the contracts, prosecutors said.

Mouasher pleaded no contest to felony embezzlement in May 2021 and had been out of custody on $50,000 bail. He was also sentenced to two years of probation and $42,500 of restitution to the dealership.
