Update: Redwood City and Woodside Participants Safe After Boston Marathon Explosion
Eight people from Redwood City and one from Woodside are registered as runners. Are they okay?
Editor's Note: Redwood City resident Alicia McLucas on our Facebook page has confirmed that Dena A. Evans and Marcelino Gorospe are safe. Heather Hoss Weber has also confirmed that Scott Dunlap is safe and completed the marathon in 2 hours and 44 minutes. Amer C Moorhead is safe, according to Joshua Solomon. Thank you for the updates.
A day of celebration has turned into tragedy and chaos as two explosions take place about an hour after the first man crossed the finish line in Boston today.
Boston PD: at least two dead, 23 injured.

According to the Boston Athletic Association website, eight people registered for the race from Redwood City and one from Woodside.

It's likely that others from the city travelled out there to give them support. Patch will continue to report this story as it develops and bring news about our local runners as we hear more.
Initial reports are calling the explosions the result of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
