Fatal Peninsula Shopping Center Crash Victim ID'd
Two others injured in the crash were transported to a local trauma center and were in stable condition as of Thursday, police said.
SAN MATEO, CA — A person who died last week from injuries suffered in a multi-vehicle collision at a Peninsula shopping center has been identified as Janet Kay Willson, 77 of San Mateo, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office said.
Willson was among three people seriously injured in the Bridgepointe Shopping Center collision, which was reported to authorities just after noon Nov. 16, San Mateo police said.
Willson died the next day, according to police.

“While the circumstances surrounding the origins of the crash are still under investigation, it is believed that speed played a significant role,” the SMPD said on the agency’s Facebook page.
“This remains an ongoing investigation.”
Officers at around 12:03 p.m. Nov. 16 responded to Bridgepointe Shopping Center on the report of a crash involving a pedestrian, police said.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a major collision scene at the north end of the lot involved three vehicles, police said.
The crash occurred at the north end of the lot near the Target store and led to the shopping center’s west entrance/driveway closure for several hours on the day of the crash.
