Homes Evacuated Amid Massive Grass Fire In San Mateo County: Authorities
In total, 10 homes were evacuated in Woodside as firefighters battled a grass fire Saturday evening.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Ten homes were evacuated due to a massive grass fire in San Mateo County on Saturday evening.
At about 6 p.m., the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office announced it had started evacuations in the area of Laning Drive and Canada Road in Woodside due to the grass fire, according to authorities. The fire was estimated to have spread to six acres on the west side of Interstate 280 and over four acres on the east side.
As of 7:10 p.m., the sheriff's office reported the fire was not progressing and no more evacuations "were anticipated at this time." Meanwhile, I-280 and other major roadways in the area remained closed.
