Inmate Found Dead At Peninsula Jail
The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office Investigations Bureau is investigating the incident.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — A San Mateo County jail inmate was found dead Thursday, authorities said.
A Maguire Correctional Facility staffer at around 5:40 p.m. found the incarcerated person unresponsive during a security check, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
County medical staff pronounced the person deceased at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates the incarcerated person likely died of natural causes.
