Officers found an unregistered 9mm Glock 26 pistol loaded with 10 rounds a 20-year-old San Mateo man's car.

SAN MATEO, CA — A Peninsula man was arrested during a traffic stop last week after an officer found an unregistered loaded gun in his car, San Mateo police said.

Kevin Aguilar, 20 of San Mateo, was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm and not being the registered owner, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle, and driving with a suspended license, the agency said on its Facebook page.

A traffic stop for a cellphone violation precipitated arrest, police said.

A check revealed Aguilar was driving on a suspended license, police said.

Officers found an unregistered 9mm Glock 26 pistol loaded with 10 rounds during an inventory of the vehicle as it was being prepared for tow.

Aguilar’s vehicle was towed because he parked illegally during the traffic stop and wasn’t allowed to move it because he had a suspended license, police said.
