Redwood City, Woodside Restaurants Retain Michelin Stars

REDWOOD CITY, CA — While no new area restaurants were recognized with coveted Michelin Stars, several area restaurants, including The Village Pub in Woodside and Sushi Shin in Redwood City, retained or earned their single star status, it was announced earlier this week.

According to The Institute Of Culinary Education, Michelin stars are considered a hallmark of fine dining by many of the world’s top chefs.

"Not easy to obtain, the stars are awarded to restaurants that Michelin considers the very best in a given city, and recipients gain immense prestige and exposure along with the honor, with many seeing an increase in business after receiving their stars," The Institute of Culinary Education explained.

Released Monday, Dec. 5, the annual list highlights culinary excellence and included not only The Village Pub and Shushi Shin, but also The Plumed Horse in Saratoga, Adega in San Jose, Protege in Palo Alto, Selby's in Atherton, Wakuriya and Shushi Yoshizumi, both in San Mateo and Madcap in San Anselmo.

The Village Pub and Plumed Horse have both held a single Michelin Star since 2009.
