Man Set Apartment Building On Fire In Redwood City: Police

A Redwood City man was arrested on suspicion of setting fire to an apartment building on Saturday.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson in Redwood City on Saturday after a fire erupted at an apartment building that morning that investigators deemed suspicious.

The fire broke out at about 7:53 a.m. in the 1300 block of Marshall Street and damaged three apartments, according to a statement from the Redwood City Police Department on Sunday.

The building was safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.

After an investigation led police and firefighters to believe the fire was intentionally set, Redwood

City resident Eliaser HernandezValadez was identified as a suspect and arrested, according to police.

He was booked into San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility on multiple allegations, including a probation violation and arson to an inhabited dwelling.

He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Monday, according to jail records.
